Youth Mobilization Committee (YMC) 

The Youth Mobilization Committee empowers collegiate leaders to take an active role in shaping the future of international affairs. Through service, advocacy, and leadership development, the YMC amplifies the voices of students and young professionals committed to advancing diplomacy, global equity, and cross-cultural understanding.

The Committee coordinates BPIA’s collegiate engagement strategy—mobilizing chapters, planning regional summits, and connecting student leaders to internships, mentorship, and fellowships. YMC members serve as the heartbeat of the BPIA Collegiate Council, representing student perspectives to national leadership while helping to shape the next generation of international leaders.

The YMC Committee is made up of three areas: 

BPIA Collegiate Chapters: Support new chapter launches and student engagement campaigns.
BPIA Collegiate Fund: Supporting funding opportunities for collegiate chapters 
RISE Initiative:  BPIA’s youth-led incubator for students who are not apart of a collegiate chapter

BPIA Collegiate Chapters Overview

BPIA Collegiate Chapters create hands-on experiences that prepare students for international careers and civic leadership. They host guest speakers, policy dialogues, and skill-building workshops that help members explore careers in diplomacy, development, trade, and global governance.

Typical chapter programming includes:

  • Career & Fellowship Workshops – Guidance on entering public service, foreign policy, and international organizations.

  • Global Dialogues – Conversations with diplomats, scholars, and industry leaders.

  • Service Projects – Local community impact linked to global causes.

  • Cultural Events – Showcasing the beauty and diversity of the African Diaspora.



Interested in Starting a New Collegiate Chapter?

Starting a chapter is simple and impactful:

  1. Gather a core team of at least five student leaders and a faculty advisor.

  2. Submit this Collegiate Chapter Interest Form. 

  3. Attend the Chapter Leadership Orientation hosted by the Youth Mobilization Committee.

  4. Receive your official BPIA Charter and welcome package.

BPIA Collegiate Fund

Overview

The Collegiate Fund supports the growth and sustainability of BPIA’s university chapters and collegiate programs nationwide. Contributions help underwrite student conference travel, leadership training, professional development, and community service initiatives.

How It Works

Funds are allocated through a transparent application process led by the BPIA Collegiate Council, with support from the National Board of Directors. Student chapters can apply for:

  • Event Support Grants (for panels, career fairs, or networking mixers)

  • Leadership Development Scholarships (for conferences or study abroad programs)

  • Innovation Mini-Grants (for student-led projects)

Why It Matters

Your investment in the Collegiate Fund helps level the playing field for emerging global leaders—ensuring that financial barriers never limit a student’s ability to lead, serve, and innovate on behalf of their community.

RISE Initiative 

The RISE Initiative is BPIA’s youth-led incubator for innovative solutions to social and global challenges. Designed to cultivate action-oriented leadership, RISE supports student-driven projects, campaigns, and research that advance inclusive diplomacy, global service, and equitable engagement across borders. Currently we are seeking leadership to support this initiative. If you are interested, please email youthadvisor@iabpia.org.

Q: Who can join the Youth Mobilization Committee?
Any active or prospective BPIA student member. To join the committee, email youthadvisor@iabpia.org.

Q: How do I apply for Collegiate Chapter funding?
Chapters may submit funding requests via email to the BPIA Collegiate Council at collegiatecouncil@iabpia.org. Be sure to include details about project goals, impact, and budget. Collegiate chapters may also request funding by submitting a funding request to the BPIA Board at the Contact Us. 

Q: Can non-members donate to the Collegiate Fund?
Yes! Contributions from alumni, corporations, and community partners are welcomed and tax-deductible. When making a donation, in the "description/comment section" type "YMC 

Q: What kind of support can chapters receive from the Collegiate Fund?
Funding may cover costs like event materials, travel for conferences, professional attire stipends, and local service projects that align with BPIA’s mission.
