MOSAIC COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

Why Mosaic

MOSAICMotivation, Open Culture, Social, Arts, Inspiration, and Care/Wellness – represents the collective spirit of our community. Each letter reflects a vital dimension of how we engage, uplift, and support one another while honoring the variety of backgrounds, beliefs, and talents that make our community whole.

Motivation and Inspiration ground this committee in encouragement and fellowship. Building from the Spirit and Inspiration Committee, MOSAIC is open to all who want to connect across belief systems, share wisdom, and strengthen emotional well-being. Through motivational talks, shared readings, cross-faith dialogues, and celebrations of milestones, members find the energy to push forward and the inspiration to thrive. President Maloney has expressed her willingness to chair this effort, underscoring its importance to the life of the organization.

Open Culture and Arts ensure that creativity and expression remain central to our mission. Drawing from the Arts and Culture Committee, MOSAIC recognizes the arts as tools for diplomacy, engagement, and storytelling. Through exhibitions, performances, and cultural dialogues, members explore how international affairs and creative expression intersect, while also building partnerships with institutions such as the Kennedy Center and Afrofuture convenings.

Finally, Social connection and Care/Wellness anchor MOSAIC in holistic community building. This element builds on the Social and Wellness Committee’s focus on mental health, stress management, suicide prevention, and safe spaces. It pairs these practices with vibrant social gatherings—like First Friday mixers, peer support circles, service initiatives, and volunteer projects—that nurture belonging while promoting health and joy. By weaving together motivation, culture, fellowship, creativity, and wellness, MOSAIC forms a true community tapestry—one that uplifts individuals and strengthens our collective impact.

Types of Activities

The MOSAIC Committee creates a rhythm of activities that balance fellowship, wellness, creativity, and celebration. Members can expect opportunities to connect through weekly or monthly gatherings that range from motivational talks, cross-faith dialogues, and guided reflections to informal mixers, First Friday social events, and community outings. These gatherings are designed to build encouragement, celebrate milestones, and foster belonging while ensuring that all participants, regardless of background or belief system, feel welcomed and uplifted.

In addition, MOSAIC curates arts and culture experiences that highlight creativity as a tool for engagement and diplomacy. Activities include hosting exhibitions, cultural showcases, and performances that spotlight diverse voices and global perspectives, while also organizing service days, volunteer projects, and wellness workshops. From peer support circles and stress-management sessions to collaborative art projects and community celebrations, MOSAIC offers a mosaic of experiences that nurture holistic well-being, deepen cultural appreciation, and strengthen the bonds of community.

While informal meet-ups do not require a board vote (but do require awareness and fall under the oversight of the Committee Chair), any official event that BPIA hosts requires a formal event proposal submission (found on the Contact Us Page).

Important Note on Business Activities and Nonprofit Status

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, all BPIA programming must serve an educational, cultural, or community-building purpose and cannot function as a business venture. This means that while the MOSAIC Committee may highlight art, cultural work, or creative expression, such activities must always be tied to BPIA’s mission of education and engagement in international affairs. We do not advertise, promote, or sell products, services, or business opportunities to our members.

When showcasing art, performances, or other creative works, the emphasis is on their educational, cultural, and inspirational value—not commercial exchange. Any activity involving creative contributions will be framed as part of our broader mission of education, diplomacy, and community impact. For further guidance, please consult the BPIA Code of Conduct, which provides clear expectations for ensuring that all programming aligns with our nonprofit purpose and values.
