Washington, D.C. — The Black Professionals in International Affairs (BPIA) is pleased to announce the formation of the Official BPIA Youth Observer Delegation to the 2026 G20 Youth Summit (Y20) in Washington, D.C. Through a partnership with Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP), BPIA will sponsor conference participation for 10 student delegates to participate in select official Y20 programming alongside young leaders, diplomats, policymakers, and international affairs professionals from around the world. This delegation also marks the launch of a new strategic partnership between BPIA and YPFP that will extend beyond the Y20 Summit and include collaboration during National BPIA Week and future programs advancing the next generation of leaders in international affairs.

The Group of Twenty (G20) is the world's leading forum for international economic cooperation. The Youth 20 (Y20) serves as its official youth engagement group, bringing together emerging leaders to develop policy recommendations that are presented to G20 Heads of State and Government. As part of the BPIA delegation, students will participate in networking events, leadership programming, cultural activities, and policy discussions. BPIA President Alexandria J. Maloney will also serve as a headline speaker during the Summit's closing policy forum.

This delegation also reflects BPIA's growing engagement across the broader G20 ecosystem. In 2020, BPIA President Alexandria J. Maloney served as a featured speaker at the Civil 20 (C20) Summit, the G20's official engagement group representing civil society, where she moderated a session on "Young People Driving Global Governance and Local Action." Like the Youth 20 (Y20), the C20 is one of the G20's official Engagement Groups—independent stakeholder platforms that bring together leaders from sectors such as youth, civil society, business, think tanks, labor, women, and science to develop policy recommendations that help inform G20 discussions and Leaders' Summits. Through BPIA's participation in both the C20 and now the Y20, the organization continues its commitment to ensuring that emerging Black leaders have opportunities to contribute to conversations shaping global governance.

Selected delegates will receive complimentary admission to eligible conference programming and the official America at 250: A Global Story Gala. Conference participation and Gala admission are provided. Travel, lodging, meals, and all other incidental expenses are the responsibility of each participant.

Because official Y20 negotiations are closed sessions reserved for accredited national delegates, BPIA participants will serve as Youth Observers and participate in the Summit's public programming, including delegate briefings, networking events, National Mall activities, the official Gala, and the closing policy forum. Applicants must attend at least 75% of eligible programming, including the required Gala, and wear professional business attire throughout all official events.
