Join us for an engaging conversation with Sharron L. McPherson, Co-Founder and CEO of Resilience Technologies Inc., Board Chair of Shared Interest, and Senior Fellow at the Henry L. Stimson Center’s Loomis Innovation Program. With over three decades of experience spanning banking, law, impact investing, and strategic innovation, Sharron brings a wealth of insight on how to build organizations and systems that are truly resilient by design.
This session will explore how resilience extends beyond endurance—into foresight, adaptability, and innovation. Drawing from her global work in project and climate finance, Sharron will discuss how to anticipate disruption, thrive in volatile environments, and design enterprises capable of surviving even the harshest conditions. Attendees will leave with deeper clarity on what resilience means for leadership, business, and the future of sustainable growth.

A former attorney at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, she has advised the World Bank, IFC, African Development Bank, and the U.S. Federal Government on sustainable finance and resilience-driven economic transformation. As a faculty member at Singularity University, she teaches executive programs on advancing technologies for a climate-resilient future. Her leadership has helped mobilize more than $175 million in capital, improving the lives of over 30 million people across Africa.

The Colin Powell Leadership Institute (CPLI) is BPIA’s signature leadership and professional development program designed to cultivate emerging global leaders of color. Through a combination of mentorship, skills training, and experiential learning, CPLI equips participants with the tools to navigate and influence international affairs, public service, and cross-sector leadership spaces. The program emphasizes values of integrity, service, and excellence—honoring General Powell’s legacy by preparing the next generation to lead with purpose, discipline, and diplomacy.
MOSAIC Committee
The MOSAIC Committee—Motivation, Open Culture, Social, Arts, Inspiration & Care—is BPIA’s wellness, arts, and culture collective that fosters community, creativity, and connection among members. Through cultural programming, creative dialogues, and wellness initiatives, MOSAIC celebrates the diverse stories and artistic expressions of the global Black diaspora. The committee serves as a space for reflection, healing, and innovation—reminding members that leadership is not only about impact, but also about imagination, authenticity, and care.
