Daniel James II is a communicator, a public servant, and native of rural Marion, South Carolina. An alumnus of Cornell University, he is a 2023 Schwarzman Scholar, having obtained a Master’s degree in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Daniel has found rewarding work in using his public engagement prowess to amplify marginalized voices through his legislative work as a Congressional Aide for former U.S. House Majority Whip, Jim Clyburn, his TEDx Talk, but most importantly via his two podcasts and radio show. Black Voices on the Hill, WVBR 93.5 FM, a forum for Black leaders at Cornell and Capitol Hill, and The Culture Connect, a voice vehicle for ethnic minorities, are transforming conversations about poverty, entrepreneurship, and criminal justice into powerful campaigns for social, economic, and political action. Currently, he serves as a Public Information Administrative Coordinator at the South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs, preparing for a life devoted to federal service, diplomatic work, and ultimately elected office.
