Join a Discussion Group

We are launching our BPIA Discussion Groups officially in 2026. These small groups meet monthly and are ideal for members who want to explore global issues in a more intimate setting while building deeper connections across the BPIA community. Participants will engage in regular conversation, learning, and reflection, all within a supportive and community-focused environment. All members are welcome to sign up and take part in shaping this new experience.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will leave each session with a clearer understanding of key global issues and greater confidence discussing complex topics in a supportive environment. The series emphasizes critical thinking, active listening, and respectful engagement, helping members refine how they analyze events and communicate their viewpoints. Over time, participants build meaningful relationships within the BPIA community, while members who serve as co-chairs gain valuable leadership and facilitation experience.

Apply to Be a Co-Chair

BPIA is seeking co-chairs to help lead DialogueHouse Discussion Groups.
Co-chairs will:

  • Guide monthly conversations

  • Foster inclusive, engaging dialogue

  • Coordinate lightly with the BPIA Discussion Groups team

  • Help shape the direction of this new member experience

This is a great opportunity for emerging leaders who want to grow professionally while contributing to our community.

Ground Rules for Discussion

To create a supportive, respectful environment, all participants agree to the following principles during Policy Coffee & Conversation:

  • Respect Every Voice — Each participant brings valuable insight, lived experience, and cultural context.

  • Share the Space Equitably — Allow room for others to contribute without dominating the conversation.

  • Engage with Curiosity — Ask questions, explore perspectives, and challenge ideas without attacking individuals.

  • Assume Positive Intent — Understand that diverse viewpoints are part of a healthy dialogue.

  • Practice Active Listening — Seek to understand before responding.

  • Honor Confidentiality — Personal reflections and sensitive professional experiences remain within the group.

  • Stay Nonpartisan — Discussions focus on issues, not political parties or campaigns, consistent with BPIA’s nonprofit guidelines.

These ground rules ensure that the space remains productive, inclusive, and aligned with our organizational values.

BPIA Code of Conduct

All participants, volunteers, and co-chairs are expected to adhere to the BPIA Code of Conduct, which governs member behavior across all BPIA programs and events. Policy Coffee & Conversation is guided by the same standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect.

The Code of Conduct affirms that:

  • Harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.

  • Members must maintain professionalism in all interactions—virtual or in-person.

  • Participants should contribute in ways that uplift community learning, safety, and belonging.

  • Conflicts of interest and sensitive information should be handled with discretion and responsibility.

By joining a Discussion Group or attending Policy Coffee & Conversation, participants agree to uphold BPIA’s expectations for respectful engagement and community conduct.
