White House NSC Briefing on the Indo-Pacific with Edgard D. Kagan

Edgard D. Kagan is the Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for East Asia and Oceania on the National Security Council. Previously he served as Deputy Chief of Mission in New Delhi and U. S. Consul General in Mumbai. Before that, he was Deputy Chief of Mission of the U. S. Embassy in Malaysia, Deputy Director of the U. S. Mission to the UN’s Washington Office, and Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. A Foreign Service officer since 1991, he served at U. S. Embassies in Australia, China, Israel, Hungary, and the Ivory Coast. He also served as Director of Korean Affairs and had tours of duty in the Office of Chinese and Mongolian Affairs as well as on the Policy Planning Staff. A 1989 cum laude graduate of Yale University, Edgard worked for the New York City Bureau of Bridges prior to joining the State Department. He speaks French and Mandarin Chinese as well as some Hungarian and Spanish. Born and raised in the Chicago area, Edgard Kagan is married to Cynthia Gire and has three children.

Ali Wyne (DINSN) is a senior analyst with Eurasia Group's Global Macro-Geopolitics practice.  He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a David Rockefeller fellow with the Trilateral Commission, and a security fellow with the Truman National Security Project.  He also serves on Foreign Policy for America's Board of Directors.
